During a recent inspection visit to Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for robust ecological conservation and sustainable green development. The visit underscored efforts in wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, and the enhancement of environmentally friendly computing infrastructure.

At the Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi reviewed ongoing restoration efforts. The lake had previously been threatened by drying up due to climate and other pressures. Thanks to conservation measures, the water body has been successfully restored and expanded over the years. Xi highlighted the significance of implementing China’s wetland protection law, maintaining strict ecological protection boundaries, and prioritizing natural restoration of degraded wetlands with scientific intervention as needed.

Xi also visited the Chahar High-Tech Development Zone to assess the progress of China’s “East Data, West Computing” initiative. This project aims to optimize the distribution of computing resources across the nation. He stressed the importance of ensuring the efficient operation of completed projects and the timely completion of ongoing developments. Xi called for the promotion of efficient, environmentally friendly, and safe computing infrastructure to bolster China’s digital economy while supporting sustainable development.

Additionally, during his visit, Xi reviewed local agricultural and livestock products. He encouraged officials to enhance the connection between production and markets, with the goal of increasing the incomes of farmers and herders.
