During a reception in Beijing marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Xi Jinping urged the nation to maintain confidence and make steady progress toward the country’s national rejuvenation. Xi emphasized the importance of sustaining economic momentum and promoting innovation-driven and high-quality development. He also outlined the need to improve people’s livelihoods and meet the targets set for the year to ensure a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, which will run from 2026 to 2030.
Xi reiterated his support for the “one country, two systems” policy in Hong Kong and Macao, calling for their greater integration into China’s overall development. He stressed the importance of deepening cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan, opposing “Taiwan independence” and external interference, while continuing efforts toward peaceful cross-Strait relations.
On the international front, Xi stated that China would persist with its independent foreign policy of peace and work towards fostering a community with a shared future for humanity. This approach underscores China’s intent to bolster its global influence while pursuing its national objectives.
