During a recent statement, Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, articulated China’s firm opposition to any unilateral sanctions that lack international legal backing or United Nations Security Council authorization. China views such measures as unjust and not aligned with international norms.
The U.S. proposal seeks to target the world’s largest consumers of Russian crude oil and natural gas. By doing so, it intends to exert pressure on Russia’s energy sector, but this initiative has raised concerns from China, which is a significant player in the global energy market.
