Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) is making strides in the semiconductor industry with the commencement of mass production for its new 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family. This series includes the EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111 models, specifically engineered for high-performance motion-control applications. Each of these ePower™ Stage ICs integrates high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry within compact, thermally optimized QFN packages. They are designed to support up to 100 V operations, with varying current ratings of 35 A and 20 A, depending on the model, enhancing power density and efficiency while streamlining system design.
Key features of this product line include fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. The series also offers single-input PWM options, which are advantageous for multi-axis motor-control applications. To complement this release, EPC has introduced evaluation boards—EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131—tailored for three-phase BLDC motor-drive applications. These platforms are built around the newly developed power-stage ICs and come equipped with essential components such as gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, and temperature monitoring and protection functions.
The new devices are available through EPC’s global distribution channels, including major suppliers like Digi-Key and Mouser. This rollout targets a wide range of applications including humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. For bulk purchases, the EPC23108 and EPC23109 are priced at $3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 come in at $2.47 each, based on orders of 3,000 units. Evaluation boards EPC91128 and EPC91129 are priced at $640 each, and the EPC91130 and EPC91131 at $630 each.
